Field commander in US-backed Syrian forces expects Raqqa fight to end Monday

BEIRUT - A field commander for the US-backed Syrian Democratic Forces (SDF) in Raqqa said the alliance was carrying out clearing operations against Islamic State and expected to control the city by the end of Monday.
A political leader in the SDF, Ilham Ahmed, also said on Monday that she expected the end of the campaign against Islamic State in Raqqa to be announced "within hours or days," but a coalition spokesman said he could not put a timeline on it.
