Finance Ministry to lott

Finance Ministry Director-General Yoram Ariav set Israel's national lottery company unprecedented conditions, demanding a change in the protocols of the lottery.
In a sharply-worded letter sent to Shaul Sotnik, director of the Mifal Hapayis, Ariav threatened to withdraw the firm's license to market its twice-weekly "Double Lotto" game by the middle of next month.
According to Ariav, the lotto company toughened the rules of the game about seven months ago, without permission from the ministry, reducing the odds of winning to 1 in 18 million.
The ministry's statistical analysis was confirmed by Prof. Zvi Gilula from the probability department at Hebrew University.
