Fischer pushes economist background in WSJ interview

Bank of Israel Governor Stanley Fischer ramped up his candidacy for head of the IMF with an interview in the Wall Street Journal Sunday.
Setting up an obvious contrast to front-runner Christine Lagarde, a lawyer by training, Fischer emphasized his background as an economist, saying, "Without having that [economic] training, it's very hard to know, who's right and who's wrong. You have to have a framework to think through the problems."
