Labor leader Shelly Yacimovich commended Sagi for contributing to Israel's security, adding that she respects his decision.
Sagi, 69, has also served as OC Southern Command and the head of Mekorot’s board of directors, and published two books, an autobiography and a description his involvement in Israeli negotiations with Syria in 1999-2000.
