French police detain suspect in attack on Jews near Lyon

French police have detained a suspect in the mob attack on three young Jewish people in the town of Villeurbanne, near Lyon, last weekend, the BBC reported Thursday.
The suspect became the fifth person to be detained for alleged involvement in the assault when he turned himself into police on Thursday, according to the BBC report.
In the Saturday attack, a group of young men beat up the Jewish teens with hammers and iron bars, leaving one of the boys with an open wound on his skull, and the girl with a neck injury.
The BBC quoted a French police source as telling French media that the suspect detained Thursday "is indeed the one that we think used the hammer," however, he added that the suspect was "like the other people who are being held, in complete denial."
