Gov't to fine, indict employers of S. Sudanese, Ivorians

The Population, Immigration, and Borders Authority (PIBA) said Thursday they will begin taking steps to crack down on those employing citizens of South Sudan and the Ivory Coast.

According to PIBA, they will begin levelling fines and indictments against those employing Ivorians on March 3rd, and against those employing South Sudanese on April 1st.

In January, PIBA said that because of what they said are improvements in the security situation in the Ivory Coast, the state can begin working to return Ivorians beginning February 1st.

While the government does not have exact figures on the number of Ivorians in Israel, they are among the estimated several thousand west Africans currently in the country.
