Gravestones desecrated in Har Menuchot cemetery

Hundreds of gravestones in Jerusalem’s Har Menuchot cemetery were found vandalized Thursday morning it was reported.

Members of a family who were paying their respects to a loved one found that thieves had stolen hundreds of metal plaques and candleholders from the cemetery’s tombs.

The Jerusalem police are investigating the theft, which occurred in at least three sections of the cemetery, apparently carried out by scrap-metal thieves.

The police said that they are aware of the issue but that due to the somewhat remote and deserted nature of the cemetery’s location it is relatively easy for thieves to operate. Jeremy Sharon
