Hamas has come to an agreement with armed groups in the Gaza Strip not to fire rockets at Israel, the group's interior minister, Fathi Hamad, told reports on Saturday. He said the decision was made to avoid possible IDF reactions, according to the Chinese news agency Xinhua. Hamad added, however, that if Israel sent soldiers in the Strip, the armed groups would be given "free reign to respond." The Hamas official also told reporters that the aim of the agreement was to "enable people to rebuild," after Operation Cast Lead last winter.
