Harsher sentence for man who threatened welfare officer

The Central District Court ruled to uphold an appeal by the state to impose a harsher sentence on a man convicted of threatening a welfare officer, the Justice Ministry announced on Tuesday.
The state appealed after the Ramle Magistrates' Court sentenced Laurence Neria  to 13 months imprisonment after convicting him of seven counts of threatening a district welfare officer and four counts of insulting a public servant.
The panel of three judges, Avraham Tal, Varda Meroz and Zahva Bustan, ruled that Neria will serve 2 years in prison for the offenses.
