Harsher sentence for man who threatened welfare officer

The Central District Court ruled to uphold an appeal by the state to impose a harsher sentence on a man convicted of threatening a welfare officer, the Justice Ministry announced on Tuesday.The state appealed after the Ramle Magistrates' Court sentenced Laurence Neria to 13 months imprisonment after convicting him of seven counts of threatening a district welfare officer and four counts of insulting a public servant.The panel of three judges, Avraham Tal, Varda Meroz and Zahva Bustan, ruled that Neria will serve 2 years in prison for the offenses.
