Illinois House of Representatives approves same sex marriage

CHICAGO - The Illinois House of Representatives voted on Tuesday to approve gay marriage, paving the way for US President Barack Obama's home state to become the 15th state to allow same sex unions.
The Illinois House voted 61 to 54, with supporters of the bill securing one vote more than the majority of 60 needed for passage. Democratic Governor Pat Quinn has said he will sign the bill into law. The Illinois state Senate had voted in favor of the bill last February.
