Iranian defense minister confirms targeting US drone

Iran’s defense minister on Friday confirmed that Iranian warplanes shot at an American drone last week, but claimed the unmanned aircraft had entered Iran's airspace, The New York Times reported.
The announcement by Brig. Gen. Ahmad Vahidi comes less than a day after the Pentagon revealed that a Predator surveillance drone had been fired upon during what it described as a routine mission on Nov. 1 in international airspace.
According to the Times, Vahidi also revealed that the two fighter planes were part of the Iranian Air Force, and were not under the command of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps as the US initially claimed.
