Iranian importer suspected of 11 murders arrested in Brazil

BRASILIA, Brazil  — An Iranian man was arrested in Brazil on Thursday on suspicion of 11 murders allegedly aimed at protecting his illegal electronics smuggling operation.
Police in the northeastern state of Ceara said 46-year-old Farhad Marvizi hired two rogue officers and other people to carry out the killings in the last two years.
Marvizi allegedly ran a lucrative ring that skirted duties on computers, digital music players and other electronics from Asia.
An investigation began in 2008 after the group allegedly tried unsuccessfully to kill a customs agent.
