Israel Prisons Service: No abuse of flotilla detainees

The Israel Prisons Service on Wednesday dismissed claims by members of the Gaza flotilla that they had been abused in custody.
All of the pro-Palestinian activists who refused to sign deportation orders were bused to the recently constructed Ela Prison in Beersheba, described by the Prisons Service as the most modern and comfortable facility in Israel today.
“Every person who was arrested and brought to the prison was handed a white track suit, a towel, a sheet, blankets, food, and bottles of water that were replenished continuously,” said Prisons Service spokesman Yaron Zamir.
“They were served three meals a day. Many of them were seen in the new clothing hiding water bottles and thanking wardens for the good treatment,” Zamir added. “Any claim of abuse is totally unfounded.”
