Israel will pay tribute for the first time on Sunday to the hundreds of thousands of Jewish refugees from Arab countries and Iran who had to flee after Israel was declared a state. Most of the refugees ended up in Israel. As part of the commemoration, there will be special Knesset sessions devoted to the issue. Furthermore, the Education Ministry is enjoined to teach students about the history and expulsion of their ancestors and the Foreign Ministry will instruct its representatives around the world to commemorate the occasion appropriately.
