Israel’s DJ Skazi makes DJMag’s Top 100

The electronic music magazine DJMag released its annual list of the year’s top 100 DJs last Saturday. The 100 winners are chosen by vote and include artists such as Skrillex, Deadmau5, Tiesto, Avicii, and David Guetta, who performed his second concert in Israel at Masada last week. Among these famous names in the music industry, in 85th place on the list, is Israel’s DJ Skazi.
In 1998, Asher Swissa and Assaf B-Base formed the psychedelic trance group Skazi.
Swissa, who had started his music career in the punk rock scene, wanted to perform electronic music with a rock sound and so used an electric guitar in many of his recordings and live shows. The electric guitar became Skazi’s trademark.
Since the release of their first album, Animal, which was produced by Israeli record company Shuffel Records in 2001, Skazi has released nine albums. Their trance-rock sound spread internationally when the group went on its Hit and Run world tour in 2005.
