Jumblatt urges Druze in

Members of the Druze community who live in Israel are Arabs and must not serve in the IDF, Lebanese Druze leader Walid Jumblatt said during an interview with Nazareth's 'Shams' radio station on Tuesday afternoon. "My call for the people of the Arab Druze community in Israel not to perform military service is not an attempt to interfere in the internal affairs of that community," he told the radio station. Jumblatt stated that when he had spoken in the past with Druze youths living in Israel, he had found them to be attentive and "increasingly aware" of the difficulty of their position. He added that there was a decline in their enlistment in the IDF.
