Kinneret expected to rise above red line briefly

Last week's intense rains were expected to bump Lake Kinneret up past the bottom red line this week as its tributary streams drain into it. The lake rose 17 centimeters last week, according to the Water Authority, which was the sharpest rise so far this year.
During the storm, copious amounts of rain fell in the Upper Galilee and the northern Golan Heights causing the streams there to swell.
However, the Kinneret is expected to drop back down below the bottom red line by the end of April or early May. By the end of the summer, the lake will likely be back down close to the black line, the Water Authority said.
