Knesset Finance C'tee to meet over general strike

In light of the general strike which began Monday morning, Knesset Finance Committee chair MK Carmel Shama-Hacohen (Likud) announced plans to convene an urgent meeting on Tuesday to discuss contract workers in the public sector.
Shama-Hacohen said in a statement that the purpose of the meeting would be to weigh the economic implications of hiring government employees through private contractors, and to what extent such employment may have a negative impact on the employee.
The Knesset Finance Committee chair also said that the committee would attempt to determine any immediate solution to the issue, which has led the public sector to initiate a general strike.
