Labor MK: Hails Abbas's 5 year disengagement plan as a step in the right direction

Labor MK Omer Bar-Lev responded to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas's proposed "transitional period" praise, as revealed by his spokesperson on Monday.
Bar-Lev stated that Abbas's concrete timeline of five years forces Prime Minister Benyamin Netanyahu to, "Quit the zig-zaging and internal squabbling and make clear statements to the Israeli public regarding the direction he intends to lead the country."
Abbas divulged his plan in an interview with the New York Times in which he called for a "transitional period" of five years for the IDF to remove all forces from the West Bank.
Bar-Lev stated that Abbas's plan would allow Israel to continue its presence along the Jordan River for several years and "prevent a re-occurrence of what happened in Gaza."
