Livni: PM knows to speak, not to garner support for Israel

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni slammed Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu for his conduct vis-a-vis the United States during a session of the Knesset Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee on Monday. "You know how to speak but not how to harness the recruit the world to support the State of Israel," she said to the prime minister.
Livni was critical of the public disagreement between Netanyahu and US President Barack Obama on display in Washington during the prime minister's visit to Washington. "You know how important the [public face] of our relations with the United States is - not just the relationship itself - for Israel's deterrence capability, and you hurt them all," she said.
"You chose to cynically conduct a public argument with Obama about something that was no spoken," she added. "If there's a fundamental difference" between Obama's statements in his Middle East policy speech and his speech to AIPAC, "have the argument in the room. Megaphone diplomacy and fiery speeches are maybe beneficial for political purposes but [they] create real damage for the State of Israel."
