Livni to Abbas: Arab Spring may threaten peace process

Opposition leader Tzipi Livni told Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas in Amman Wednesday that political developments resulting from the so-called Arab Spring are turning the "Arab street" against peace with Israel.
According to the West Bank's Ma'an News Agency, Livni told Abbas in Jordan that the current upheavals in the Arab world have increased the popularity and influence of Islamist groups that reject peace with the Jewish state.
Livni urged Abbas to work with Israel to combat such "extremest" elements by entering into serious negotiations towards a peaceful settlement of the conflict.
