The man who allegedly shot and killed his wife Halla Feisel was revealed on Sunday afternoon to be Basel Salam, son of Nazareth deputy mayor Ali Salam.
The 34-year-old Salam was arrested overnight Saturday on suspicion of killing his 28-year-old wife in the heat of an argument.
Only hours earlier, Salam the elder had participated in a large-scale demonstration in protest of honor killings and violence against women in Arab society.
