Militants destroy 2 NATO tankers in NW Pakistan

PESHAWAR, Pakistan  — A Pakistani government official said militants have fired rockets at a NATO convoy carrying supplies to Afghanistan, destroying two oil tankers and wounding two people.

Iqbal Khan said traffic along the route has been suspended after Monday's attack in the Khyber tribal region.

He said two people traveling in the tankers sustained burns when the trucks were engulfed in flames.

Taliban militants occasionally attack trucks on NATO's main supply route through Pakistan, though the vast majority of the goods are untouched. Criminal gangs also sometimes destroy the vehicles.
