MKs lash out against Eretz Nehederet 'propaganda' nudity promo

MKs lash out against Ere

A television promo for Channel 2 satire show Eretz Nehederet drew harsh criticism for explicit nudity and an "anti-Semitic" message when it was brought up at a Knesset Education Committee session which was urgently convened on Monday afternoon. "There is no doubt in my mind that someday, the State of Israel will be run by ... the right kind of government, and those [who created the promo] will be brought to trial for anti-Semitism," said MK Ya'acov Katz (National Union) during the debate. "It is reminiscent of the way [Nazi propaganda minister Josef] Goebbels ran the Nazi propaganda enterprise and defamed the Jews, who were subsequently butchered." While most of the assembled MKs spoke of the need for boundaries in the media, MK Anastasia Michaeli (Israel Beiteinu) said the promo was creative and one of the mildest examples of explicit content on television. When her viewpoint was harshly criticized by other MKs, Michaeli elected to leave the room.
