NATO says no proof Libya government controls Misrata port

BRUSSELS - NATO has seen no evidence to support a Libyan government statement that it was in control of the port in the besieged city of Misrata, a NATO official said Saturday.
"There is no evidence to support such claims," the official told Reuters. "We are closely monitoring the situation around Misrata and anti-Gaddafi forces continue to expand their perimeter around Misrata," the official said.
The Libyan government said on Friday it had taken control of the port in Misrata, where rebels fighting Muammar Gaddafi's rule have been under siege for weeks.
