Nigeria: Kidnapped school children released

A police spokesman says kidnappers have released the 15 school children abducted from a bus on their way to school.
Federal police spokesman Emmanuel Ojukwu told The Associated Press that the kidnappers released the children early Friday morning. Ojukwu says all the pupils are in good health. He says he doesn't know if a ransom was paid to win their release.
The gunmen stopped the school bus Monday morning as it headed toward the Abayi International School near Nigeria's oil-rich and restive southern delta.
Middle-class children, as well as priests, politicians and doctors in Nigeria have increasingly been targeted by criminal gangs from kidnappings. But Monday's kidnapping shocked even Nigeria's president, who vowed to save the children and end the recent spate of abductions.
