Obama to speak on Libya, condemns violence

WASHINGTON — The White House says US President Barack Obama "strongly condemns" the bloodshed in Libya and will address the situation later Wednesday.
Spokesman Jay Carney called the violence by militiamen loyal to Muammar Gaddafi "completely unacceptable" and said it needed to stop.
Obama has not spoken publicly on the situation in Libya since violent protests broke out there and Gaddafi's regime struck back violently in the capital Tripoli even as the strongman seemed to lose control of other parts of the nation. Hundreds have been killed.
The US has been focused on getting US citizens out of Libya, which started Wednesday.
