Obama to welcome Liberian president to White House

WASHINGTON — President Barack Obama will welcome Liberian President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf to the White House on Thursday.
In a statement late Monday, the White House described Liberia as an "important democratic partner" that has made "tremendous strides" in recent years.
Obama plans to discuss regional issues with Sirleaf.
