Overwhelming support for raising electoral threshold

Seventy percent of Israelis would be in favor of raising the electoral threshold from the current 2%, according to a Dahaf Institute poll of 600 Israelis sponsored by the organization Israelis for Saving Democracy.
The poll found that 55.5% of Israelis prefer to vote for large ruling parties and 35.8% prefer smaller ideological parties. When asked whether Israelis should be allowed to vote for the individual candidates of the parties they vote for on election day, 68% said yes and 27.2% said no.
The results were first published in the Maariv newspaper, which began a new campaign to push for changing the electoral system on Monday.
