'Peaceful Sheikh Jarrah protests must not be dispersed'

Theprotestors who gathered Friday at the east neighborhood of Sheikh Jarrah didnot require a license in order to demonstrate and were within their right to do so - as long as the protest remained peaceful, a court ruled on Thursday afternoon.

Accordingto the ruling, security forces that arrived at the scene at the start of theprotest should not have made moves to disperse it, but only to guard thedemonstrators.

However, said the ruling, the gathering became illegal once the demonstrators began toblock the road and shout obscenities at Jews who were praying nearby.
