Peres: Dagan fought in known wars and wars that are still secret

"The state of Israel and the Jewish people continue to exist thanks to men of great spirit and action like Meir Dagan," said former president Shimon Peres following the announcement that the former Mossad chief had died on Thursday.

"Meir won wars that are known and those that are still secret for the State of Israel. He built and enabled us to have abilities that are known and hidden from the eye," said Peres.

Peres explained that Dagan's death was personally very difficult for him as the two were close friends.

"He never surrendered to anyone, not to our enemies and not to any cursed disease," said Peres.
