PM calls off meeting with Rivlin amid tension over shelved bills

Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu has canceled his meeting with Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, which was scheduled to take place on Monday afternoon. Tensions between Netanyahu and Rivlin had mounted following Rivlin's decision to shelve several controversial coalition-sponsored bills, including the so-called "Mofaz Law." The Prime Minister's Office announced that the meeting had been called because Netanyahu needed to "prepare for upcoming trips abroad." Rivlin's office said that the speaker would "be happy to meet the prime minister whenever he wishes."
