Qatar says it will take part in Libya int'l effort

DOHA - Qatar said on Friday it would take part in international efforts to protect civilians in Libya, but it was not clear if this meant it would join in any military operations against Muammar Gaddafi.
The official Qatar News Agency cited an "official source" at the foreign ministry as saying "Qatar decided to take part in the international efforts aimed at stopping the bloodshed and protecting civilians in Libya".
The news item, published overnight, said Qatar welcomed the UN Security Council resolution on Thursday authorizing a "no-fly" zone and military attacks on Gaddafi's forces, after the Libyan leader said he would crush revolutionaries.
