Rachel Corrie civil lawsuit resumes hearings

The Haifa District Court is due on Sunday to resume hearings in a civil lawsuit filed by the family of Rachel Corrie, the American woman who was struck and killed by an IDF bulldozer while protesting against the demolition of Palestinian homes in Rafiah, in the Gaza Strip.
Corrie was killed on March 16, 2003. The trial began on March 10 with testimony presented by witnesses for the plaintiff.
During this, the second round of hearings, the state will present its witnesses. The lawsuit charges the government with the intentional killing of Corrie, an activist with the pro-Palestinian International Solidarity Movement.
Short of that, it charges that the government should be held responsible for the alleged gross negligence of the soldiers involved in the incident.
