Recorders in UPS Dubai plane crash sent to US

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates – The Emirati aviation authority leading the investigation into September's crash of a UPS plane in Dubai said the Boeing 747's "black boxes" have been sent to the US for analysis.

The director-general of the UAE's General Civil Aviation Authority told The Associated Press on Tuesday that the flight data recorders were sent to a US lab last week.

The GCAA is leading the investigation into the crash with help from the US National Transportation Safety Board.

One of the recorders that monitors voice transmissions was recovered within hours of the September 3 accident. The other, the flight data recorder, was found in "reasonable" condition days later.

The Boeing 747-400's two crew members died in the accident.
