Defense Minister Ehud Barak met on Wednesday with King Abdullah ll of Jordan. The meeting took place in Abdullah's palace in Amman in the run-up to the Israeli-Palestinian summit next week in Washington.
The two discussed the peace process and Israel's relations with its neighbors.
Barak told Abdullah that Jordan holds a central position in the search for regional peace and in aiding Israel and the Palestinians to reach an agreement.
The defense minister added that peace is a strategic goal for Israel and that Israel expects that the Palestinians will arrive in Washington with an open heart.
