Rivlin: Knesset will act on Migron if gov't does not

Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin called on the government to take responsibility for the fate of Migron in a visit to the settlement outpost Thursday.
"The government must take responsibility for the situation and find a legal way to regulate the status of the land," Rivlin said, adding that the Knesset would take action if the executive branch did not. A Knesset committee had previously discussed and tabled a bill that would make it more difficult to demolish outposts such as Migron, which the High Court said must be demolished by March.
Saying that Migron residents did not come "to deprive others of their land" and that Israel encouraged their moving there, Rivlin warned against "solving one injustice while creating another."
He suggested that Palestinians who could prove legal ownership of the land be well-compensated for it.
