Salman Rushdie: Gunter Gras travel ban is infantile

Author Salman Rushdie on Tuesday denounced a travel ban imposed on German writer Gunter Grass by Israel as infantile. Rushdie, who had a contract put on his life by Iran for penning the book The Satanic Verses, wrote on his Twitter feed that it is "OK to dislike [or] even be disgusted by [Gunter Grass's] poem, but to ban him is infantile pique."
"The answer to words must always be other words," he added.
In response to a poem slamming Israel's stance toward Iran published by Grass earlier this month, Interior Minister Eli Yishai this week declared the German Nobel Prize laureate persona non grata in the Jewish state.
