Schalit denies mulling forming party

Sources close to kidnapped soldier Gilad Schalit's family denied a report in the Jerusalem weekly Zman Yerushalayim over the weekend that they were considering forming a political party ahead of the next election.
The report said the family was upset that a rally held to mark the 1700th anniversary of Schalit's abduction received little media attention and that they realized that the only way for them to achieve political power was to form a one-issue party headed by Gilad Schalit or to persuade thousands of people to register to the Likud in order to pressure Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu from inside the party.
The newspaper stood by the report on Sunday.
