'Shas blames former Haifa police chief for bus deaths'

Members of the Shas party on Thursday claimed that former Haifa Police chief Ahuva Tomer was more responsible than Interior Minister Eli Yishai for the deaths of the prison guards whose bus caught fire during the Carmel Fire, according to Channel 10 News.
The Shas members were responding Danny Rozen, the life partner of Ahuva Tomer, who told Israel Radio that he would sue Yishai.
At Wednesday's state ceremony to honor the 44 victims of the Carmel fire, Rozen demanded that Yishai leave the ceremony, saying "this man has no shame' either he leaves or I leave." Rozen's life partner died in Haifa's Rambam Medical Center, days after suffering burns over her entire body while attempting to rescue victims trapped in a burning Prisons Service bus.
Shas MK David Azoulay said earlier Thursday that Yishai does not intend to resign following the protest  by Rozen and other bereaved family members. In interview with Army Radio Azoulay said that "he came to console the families, and he did not expect such a harsh reception."
