Shi'ite mosque target of bombing, shooting in Dagestan

As Ramadan ended on Saturday night, two masked gunmen entered a mosque in Dagestan, in the North Caucasus region, and opened fire on the worshipers, AFP reported.

Following the gun attack, an explosion erupted in the same mosque, injuring several more according to local police. A second bomb was reportedly discovered and defused.

The number of wounded from the shooting has risen to eight, while the number of worshipers injured in the explosion has not been disclosed.

The attack on the Shi'ite mosque took place in a predominantly Sunni region of the Caucasus, Al Jazeera reported.
