Spanish police dismantle major cocaine lab

MADRID  — Spanish police said they have arrested 25 people and dismantled what they claim is the biggest and most sophisticated cocaine laboratory known to date in Europe.
A police statement Tuesday said agents seized some 300 kilograms of the drug and 33 tons of chemicals used to prepare it for sale.
Police also confiscated 470 mobile telephones and seized €2 million ($2.7 million)in cash in the raid on a villa outside the Spanish capital.
The arrested included Spaniards and Colombians.
The detainees included several Spanish lawyers who helped launder money made from sale of the cocaine
Police say the operation began Dec. 7 and followed two years of investigations.
