Supreme Court deputy president to run for State Comptroller

Supreme Court Deputy President Eliezer Rivlin plans to run for State Comptroller, seeking support from MKs on Tuesday.
The Knesset is expected to elect in the coming months a replacement for State Comptroller Micha Lindenstrauss, who finishes his term in July.
Earlier this month, Judge Yosef Shapira of the Jerusalem District Court was named as Likud and Kadima leaders’ choice for the comptroller’s job, in an attempt to find a consensus figure.
Rivlin has already garnered support from Knesset Speaker Reuven Rivlin, who is not related to the judge, as well as Likud, Israel Beiteinu, United Torah Judaism, Labor and Hadash MKs. The Supreme Court justice, who is currently abroad, called MKs throughout the day to ask for their votes.
