The boy was stopped by Border Police forces at the entrance to the Cave of the Patriarchs in Hebron, the Police Spokesperson's Unit issued a statement on Monday.
According to reports, the teenager concealed a knife underneath his shirt and mimicked the behavior of someone mentally handicapped, according to Mako.
The police checked under his shirt after becoming suspicious of his behavior, and arrested him after finding the knife.
Earlier this month, police prevented two stabbing attacks at the Cave of the Patriarchs.
Tensions in the area have risen dramatically since Defense Minister Naftali Bennett announced the funding of a new Jewish neighborhood in Hebron.
"Border Police will continue to thwart terrorism in various areas, including in Judea and Samaria, where they work alongside the IDF and the security organizations," the police said in a statement.
