'Syria willing to talk peace but doubtful of Israel's seriousness'

Syria is willing to conduct peace negotiations with Prime Minister Binyamin Netanyahu, but doubts Israel's commitment to seriously discussing the future of the Golan Heights, the London-based Saudi paper Asharq Alawsat reported Thursday. "Syria has adopted a pragmatic approach to peace negotiations with Israel," unnamed French officials told the paper, saying that if Israel commits to a withdrawal from the Golan, Syria would be willing to discuss timetables and security arrangements under international auspices.
