Treasury denies rumors of supervised milk price increase

The Finance Ministry on Monday denied that it was intending to increase the price of milk under supervision, after rumors to the contrary sparked harsh condemnations from Center and Left Israeli politicians.
"The Treasury at this stage does not intend to sign on an increase on the price of milk that is under supervision," Finance Minister Yuval Steinitz said in a statement.
Earlier, Labor party head Shelly Yacimovich said "the decision to raise the price of supervised milk by 5 percent is further proof that government's unresponsiveness."
Yesh Atid leader Yair Lapid also criticized the price increase reports, saying "instead of dealing with the problems of high costs of living in Israel, the Finance Ministry and (the agricultural industry) are ignoring the rising prices of basic commodities in Israel."
