Truck scales have been erected on the Meitar overland border crossing between Israel and the Palestinian Authority, according to a statement released Monday by the Tzach Orny construction company. The bridge, 18 meters in length, will be used to weigh vehicles and their cargo in order to prevent overloading - a serious traffic hazard. A weight limit of over 100 tons will be placed on vehicles wishing to cross. It marks the first time such a structure has been used to monitor the Israeli-Palestinian border.
