UN chief to send envoy to Kyrgyzstan

VIENNA — UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon announced on Thursday that he would be sending a special envoy to Kyrgyzstan.
Ban says Slovakia@@@s former foreign minister Jan Kubis will visit the Central Asian nation at the UN@@@s behest on Friday, while the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe will also send an envoy. Ban spoke Thursday in Vienna, where he attended a closed meeting of the alliance executive.
A Kyrgyz opposition coalition has set up an interim government after clashes left dozens dead nationwide on Wednesday.
Ban also called for calm, saying "I@@@m deeply concerned and alarmed by all this violence." He says "I could feel the tension in the air" during his visit to Bishkek several days ago. "The pressure has been building for months."
