UN chief urges quelling of Tunisia unrest

UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-Moon says Tunisia's interim leaders must take all steps to quell violence, but also ensure that civil liberties are not trampled.
Ban told reporters in Abu Dhabi that he remains "extremely concerned" about the level of unrest and urges the international community to help bring stability.
Ban also called on Tunisian authorities to provide assurances that freedom of speech and other rights would remain intact as the country struggles in the aftermath of riots last week that toppled long-ruling strongman President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
Ban was in the United Arab Emirates' capital on Monday for a forum on clean energy.
