UNRWA head: Israeli humanitarian gestures - drop in a bucket

Hours after Israel sent equipment to fix a sewage pumping station into Gaza on Thursday, UNRWA director John Ging told reporters in New York that Israel's gesture could be likened to “a drop in a bucket” in comparison to the Gazans' daily “struggle to survive.”
In remarks communicated by AFP, Ging said, “There is no legitimate economy anymore, nor is there any prospect of the restoration of the legitimate economy because there is no commercial trade into or out of the Gaza strip … The context is so great, the scale of the need is so large.”
Ging reportedly added that the recent transfers of supplies into Gaza demonstrated “that there are ways to overcome the security challenges” without continually enforcing the blockade.
